Colaborate's Laboratory Chargemaster Pricing Review includes a no cost, no obligation analysis of the most common active billable tests listed on the laboratory information system to determine if each is linked to a chargemaster line item that accurately reflects the laboratory service being performed. This analysis will be performed by a qualified coding expert, experienced in CPT coding, and requires that the client provide Colaborate with an Excel file containing the data necessary to perform the review.
Excel File Preparation
An Excel file containing the following information must be created for all active billable tests and services listed in the laboratory information system(s) (LIS) (e.g., clinical lab tests, blood bank tests and products, anatomic pathology tests and diagnostic services, etc.).
Test Worksheet Layout
The worksheet header should contain:
The name of the hospital or laboratory
The date that the data was pulled for this analysis
The utilization period (date span) selected to obtain the volume data (e.g., July 2005 - June 2006)
Service ID — The service ID that connects each test in the LIS to a line item in the chargemaster.
Lab Depart Code — The laboratory department code which identifies the department where each test is performed.
Order Mnemonic, LIS Test Description — The order mnemonic and LIS test description used to order and report the tests or services rendered.
HIS Chargemaster Information:
Chargemaster Test Description — Test description.
CPT/HCPCS — Current procedural terminology (CPT); Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).
Rev Code — Revenue Code or Cost Center.
OP Chg — The amount charged to third-party payors for outreach/outpatient services.
IP Chg — The amount charged to third-party payors for inpatient services.
Utilization Information:
OP Vol — The volume or number of each test or service billed to outreach/outpatients over the last 6-12 month period.
IP Vol — The volume or number of each test or service billed to inpatients over the last 6-12 month period.
Total Vol — The total volume of each test or service billed over the last 6-12 month period.
