Larry Small, MS, MT(ASCP)COOLarry Small is a recognized leader in providing clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory advisory consulting services; his expertise encompasses clinical labs, transfusion medicine, histology processing, anatomic pathology, and molecular diagnostics. Mr. Small has an extensive hospital and independent lab management and consulting background and has held leadership positions and oversight roles in corporate compliance, lab management, information services, sales/ sales service, billing accounts receivable, TQM, and regulatory compliance. Prior to L Small Associates' merging with Hunter Consulting to create Colaborate, Mr. Small was President and CEO of the former. He also served as the Corporate Compliance Officer and Director of Compliance and Billing Services for Chi Solutions, formerly Park City Solutions (PCS) Laboratory Services Group and Chi Laboratory Systems, Inc. Before joining PCS, Mr. Small was Vice President and Director of Laboratory Operations and Regional Compliance Coordinator for MetPath/ Corning Clinical Laboratories (now Quest Diagnostics). Mr. Small is skilled in assisting academic medical centers, hospitals, independent and commercial clinical laboratories, pathology practices, lab billing companies, and other lab service providers in implementing effective compliance programs, correct coding audit processes, employee training, and community outreach programs. His work with these organizations resulted in impressive improvements in efficiency, service quality, billing processes, accounts receivable revenue cycle process flow, and compliance with related laws and regulations. Mr. Small has developed a widely used, best practice laboratory compliance audit assessment and 'report card' measurement tool and various training programs to assist clinical labs, anatomic pathology diagnostic service providers, and billing companies in their regulatory compliance efforts. He is also a frequent national conference speaker to organizations such as the American Pathology Foundation, Association of College & University Auditors, Washington G2 Lab Institute, Healthcare Financial Management Association, and Healthcare Auditor Network. Topics have included clinical lab and anatomic pathology compliance, correct coding and billing, and other management related areas. Mr. Small is certified by the College of American Pathologists as an MT (ASCP), and holds a MS degree from Iowa State University. |
